Wecome to ES Lighting
ES Lighting, originally known as Electric Supply Co., and currently located at 724 Connecticut Street, is Lawrence’s first wholesale electrical supply business and radically different than today’s world of big-box, help yourself, cookie cutter stores. Family owned & operated, ES Lighting offers personal service, individual attention and a wide selection of products both in inventory and by custom order.
Andrew Lechtenberg with lifelong experience in electrical and lighting industries moved with his wife, Harriett, to Lawrence in late 1963 and opened business in a small storefront on East 7th in 1964. In a short time, needing more space, they acquired the property at 1033 Vermont where they operated their business on the first floor with residence on the second floor. Their son Michael purchased the business from his parents when they retired in 1972. The business again expanded in 1978 to a larger facility at 616 Massachusetts on the site of the first house built in Lawrence.
In 2002 Grant purchased ES Lighting to become the third generation owner. With the evolution from electrical supplies to specializing in lighting the business name changed to reflect the expanding services and products available in lighting. The 3,000 + square foot showroom provides customers an opportunity to see indoor and outdoor fixtures, lampshades, door and bath hardware, fans and a large assortment of ordinary to extraordinary light bulbs. “Lighting is not one-size-fits-all,” says Michelle (Lechtenberg) Mailand, Operations Manager. “We are happy to work with customers to find just the right product for the space they need to light.”
ES Lighting offers light consultations to contractors, home-builders, DIY remodelers, and anyone else who needs fixtures for any room as well as outdoor and landscape lighting. Customers travel a great distance to not only get a consultation about the proper lighting for their situation, but also to be able to choose from the varied selection ES Lighting offers.
ES Lighting is happy to be able to provide customers “the best experience for their project, big or small. We enjoy educating our customers,” Mailand says. “We’ll find them not just a light, but the right light.”
ES Lighting staff are available Monday through Friday and Saturday mornings to welcome customers and offer personal service and quality products.
